Most of Fallout's palette is green and grey, but I wanted to add a touch of warmth to this.

Indian Summer on HarvestStreet by ~ghostfire. From the suggester: "Very detailed work on an post apocalypse scenario. You can feel the loneliness even trough you are in one of the many Villages around Washington D.C." Full-view is absolutely necessary to see the wonderful detail! wow it's even cooler colored! i love the atmospheric light, especially the way the background fades in it. the backlighting on her and the dog is a little too harsh though, maybe if you would have made it a slightly darker color she would blend in better with the background. other than that i wouldnt have ever been able to tell that it's two different images combined. it's totally seamless--the coloring helped.

The coloring was done together after the pencils were composited. I did play around a lot with how much backlighting to give her, and in the end I decided it was better to make her pop out in the picture than to be more realistic. Since I don't often do pieces with elaborate backgrounds, especially with a lot of perspective, I loved adding the atmospheric fade in the distance.

*heh* Don't worry about it. Walking off into the sunset is a strong Fallout image, so I wanted this one to be walking out of it.
:iconghostfire:
This is definitely one of those pieces that's "inspired by". I didn't want to use most of the elements from the game exactly as they were pictured, though.

You were the only person at VGXPO to buy this one.
